On December 15, 2020, in the Foyer of the Athenaeum was inaugurated “The Pinacotheque from Jassy”, an exhibition that includes over 100 works of art by famous Romanian painters.
Sketches, woodcuts, watercolors and oil paintings, present in the Art Gallery, are signed by Nicolae Grigorescu, Nicolae Tonitza, Theodor Aman, Theodor Pallady, Octav Băncilă, Otto Briese, Dan Hatmanu, Corneliu Baba, Costache Agafiței, Ion Andreescu, Mircea Mihail Ghiorghiu, Horia Teodoru, Radu Daranga, Victor Mihăilescu Craiu, Sorin Ilfoveanu, Victor Geangalau, Ioan Bălău, Leon Biju, Ion Theodorescu-Sion, Felix Aftene and others.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by personalities from the artistic life of Iași, journalists, but also representatives of creative unions or public institutions in the field of arts.
On February 19, 2021, on the 145th anniversary of the birth of the great Romanian artist Constantin Brâncuși, the National Athenaeum in Iași launched the project “Romanian Sculptors’ Month”. Thus, under this national cultural pretext, the Little Art Gallery is completed for an indefinite period with numerous sculptures signed by the artists Ion Irimescu, Marcel Guguianu, Richard Hette, Oscar Han, Ion Jalea, Ion Iancuț, Dan Covătarul, Gheorghe Adoc, Gabriela Adoc, Rădulescu Gir , Boris Caragea, Cornel Medrea, Gheorghe Munteanu, Felix Aftene, Iftimie Bârleanu, Gheorghiță Brădățanu, Constantin Crengăniș, Vladlen Babcinețchi, Alin Neacșu, Leontin Păun, Lucian Smău, or Sorin Purcaru.
At the same time, works from the patrimony of the Faculty of Visual Arts and Design within the National University of Arts “George Enescu”, sculpture specialization, of the National College of Art “Octav Băncilă”, or of the Popular School of Arts “Titel Popovici” from Iași, can be admired both inside and outside the building.
Along with the over 40 sculptures, the public can see, for the first time, a letter written and signed in handwriting by the great sculptor Constantin Brâncuși.
The Small Art Gallery in Jassy is open to the public for daily visits, from 09:00 to 19:00.
